Toxicity Studies of Effluent and its Impact on Activated Sludge in Biological Treatment Facilities of a Sewage Treatment Plant

The project aims to determine the possible toxicity and influence on the work of the domestic wastewater treatment plant. The study was conducted in 2 pre-planned stages:

During the 1st stage, the toxicity of the wastewater to Daphnia Magna crustaceans, which is certified according to the ISO 6341 standard, was evaluated.

During the 2nd stage, the influence of wastewater on the activated sludge system was determined.

Prior to commencing the research, an assessment was conducted on the wastewater entering the domestic treatment plant. This involved monitoring the flow dynamics and determining the volume of wastewater being processed in relation to the flow rate of treated domestic wastewater.
