A project to upgrade 120 m³/day water facility by removing arsenic
The arsenic concentration of 10 µg/L specified in the hygiene standard HN 24:2017 is constantly exceeded in the drinking water supplied by the current water site. The lime charge used in existing de-ironing filters is adequate for removing iron and manganese from groundwater but does not completely remove arsenic. Therefore, it was decided to replace the lime charge with a new filler, which also consists of coarse-/fine-grained inert fractions enriched with catalytic charge. During laboratory tests, the high efficiency of arsenic removal was determined using a mixture of quartz sand and manganese dioxide at filtration speeds of 10 m/h of iron-free filters. Renovation works of the watering purification plant have been completed: the charge has been changed; the existing compressed air supply system was updated.
