Study of landfill leachate treatment technologies

During various types of activities, both in industrial enterprises and in ordinary households, solid waste is generated, which is currently still buried in landfills. The infiltration of rainwater and melted snow into landfills causes the formation of heavily contaminated filtrate, which poses significant management challenges due to the unsuitability of conventional wastewater treatment technologies in handling the high toxicity levels of the filtrate.To find out the most suitable leachate cleaning technologies, an applied study of alternative technologies was carried out in Belgium in 2014-2016. During it, both traditional and innovative technologies were tested, and at the end of the study, recommendations for cleaning the filtrate were presented. YAQUATEC’s chief technologist also participated in the study.
